Sap Lai was started in Charleston SC in 2018 by Tee Somsnith. “Sap lai” translates to “delicious eats” in Laotian. The concept launched as a private chef/catering company and then a tented pop-up. Less than two years later, it gained a large enough following to warrant the purchase of a food truck.
About the Chef:
Tee had a passion for cooking at a young age and many years of restaurant experiences led to her becoming a self taught chef. The food she cooks is what she feels is delicious to her, her family, and friends. Most of her dishes are street foods found in Asia. Now moving to Wilmington NC to grow her family, Tee has moved on from the truck, but hopes to continue sharing her dishes here in the Wilmington area. So as of now, Tee will be doing only random pop ups and private chef/catering events.
